If you have passed by the hospital recently, you may have noticed in the main parking area the tell tale signs of construction to include trailers, fences, caution signs, etc. We are now in the first phase of the Emergency Services Department renovation that will expand the capabilities of your community hospital to better care for you when it is needed the most, when there is a true emergency. This expansion should last approximately 7 months and expand the Emergency Services Department by 5 beds. With right at 27,000 visits to our Emergency Services Department we have seen a 16% increase in visits over the past five years. In addition to the Emergency Services Department, the hospital runs a hospital owned Ambulance Service that responds to our community’s request for assistance on the average of 790 calls per month or about 9,500 per year. Like emergency departments in all hospitals across our nation, this is a very busy service and we are blessed to have such highly trained and dedicated staff members that help to save lives here every day. We survey our emergency services patients for satisfaction and that department has consistently over the last year received an average of a 91% approval rating of overall quality of care provided. The Athens-Limestone Hospital Foundation has been and continues an effort to raise money to help cover the cost of this much needed patient care expansion. Through numerous individual donations, fundraising events and grants, over $600,000 has been raised toward this $1.6 million dollar project. There will be continued opportunities for you and community businesses to contribute to this worthy cause. There is nowhere else that a donation given can help so many in every walk of life. If you would like to make a donation to the emergency services department please contact the Foundation at 233-9236 or amyg@alhnet.org . |
